Patients being transferred out of London for treatment
The Regional Medical Director for the London at NHS England Dr Vin Diwakar said patients are being transferred outside the capital for treatment as hospitals are overwhelmed by the number of Covid-19 patients.
Speaking at the Downing Street press conference Dr Diwakar said that the NHS Nightingale Hospital is now open to treat non-covid patients but warned more patients may need to be treated outside the capital if rates continue to increase.

Rishi Sunak has defended backlash from the latest NHS figures which show waiting lists have risen by 330,000 since he promised to cut them, insisting that the government's plan is working. Angela van den Bogerd, a former senior director at the Post Office, arrived at the Post Office Horizon IT Inquiry on Thursday morning. She began with an apology on the first of her two days of giving evidence, telling the inquiry she was "truly, truly sorry" for the "devastation" caused to wrongly convicted sub-postmasters and their families. Errors in the Post Office's Horizon IT system meant money appeared to be missing from many branch accounts when, in fact, it was not.
