Defence Minister Rajnath Singh launched e-Chhawani portal. CDS Gen Bipin Rawat was also present at the event. The portal aims to provide online municipal services to more than 20 lakh citizens across 62 Cantonment Boards through a multi-tenancy central platform.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh presented the "Best Marching Contingent" award of Republic Day parade 2021 in Delhi on February 15. Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Bipin Rawat along with other officers was also present. 'Best marching contingent among the three services' was presented to Jat Regimental Centre while 'Best marching contingent among CAPF and other auxiliary forces' was won by Delhi Police. "I congratulate to the best marching contingent," said Defence Minister while speaking at the event.
Indian Army Chief General MM Naravane lashed out at Pakistan over its continued support to terrorists. Speaking at the Army Day celebration, the Army Chief said that Indian forces have been giving a stern response to provocations at the border and added that around 300 to 400 terrorists are waiting across the border to infiltrate into India. He also added that forces have thwarted numerous infiltration attempts by terrorists into Kashmir. The Army Chief also added that there has been a 44% rise in ceasefire violations by Pakistan. Actor Akshay Kumar celebrated the Army Day with Indian Army soldiers. He took to Instagram and shared a video of him playing volleyball with jawans from the Army. The actor, who took out time to celebrate the day, also flagged off a marathon. The short clip showed Akshay jump and hit the ball amid a thick cloud of mist. Soon, the ball was deftly blocked by his opponent on the other side of the net. Akshay and the rest of the men were dressed in black t-shirts and track bottoms. A referee sat on a raised seat at the nets, while a number of bystanders watched. Akshay has been busy shooting for his upcoming film, Bachchan Pandey in Jaisalmer. Videos of the actor at various shooting locations have landed on the internet. While little is known about the storyline of the film, it is being directed by Farhad Samji. Film also stars Kriti Sanon, Prateik Babbar, Arshad Warsi, Pankaj Tripathi and others.

The Army Day celebrations held at Delhi's parade ground. Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat and Army Chief General MM Naravane arrived at parade ground. The felicitation ceremony was held during the celebrations. For the first time ever, Indian Army demonstrated combat swarm drones at the parade. Army Day is celebrated on Jan 15 every year. On this day in 1949, Field Marshal KM Cariappa became the first Indian to take charge of the Indian Army.
Army Chief General MM Naravane spoke about India's position on the standoff with China in Ladakh and said that the resolve of safeguarding the country's interest was shown. The Army chief added that India's engagements with China should continue as they have in the past. “Whatever we did has shown the resolve that we have in maintaining our interest foremost. With this approach our relations with China would develop along the path we wish. As two neighbours, who would like to have peace and tranquility on their borders. Engagements with China must continue as they have in the past, nobody wants an unsettled border,” he said. A border standoff between the Indian and Chinese militaries began in May last year. In June, it resulted in a clash in Galwan Valley in which 20 Indian soldiers were killed. After nearly nine months, both armies withdrew artillery and camps, marking disengagement.

Observing that India has "lagged behind slightly" in terms of the quick pace modernisation undertaken by our adversaries, and dependence of Indian armed forces on equipment of foreign origin needs to be addressed, Army chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane on Thursday said self-reliance in the defence sector has become a strategic necessity. While addressing the arms-industry partnership virtually, the Army Chief pitched for a self-reliant India to become the main player in the global economy. "Today self-reliance in defence has become a strategic necessity. It is imperative for us to invest in building long term indigenous capabilities for application across the entire spectrum of conflict. Considering the quick pace of defence modernisation being undertaken by our adversaries, we are lagging behind slightly. The continuous and heavy dependence of Indian armed forces on equipment of foreign origin needs to be addressed through indigenous capability development," he said. The Indian Air Force carried out a long range precision strike against a practice target to mark the second anniversary of the Balakot Operations. The strike was carried out by members of the same squadron who carried out the actual operations inside Pakistan in response to the Pulwama attack in which 40 CRPF personnel were killed. IAF Chief Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria also flew a multi aircraft sortie with the units to commemorate the occasion along with the squadron pilots. 'Balakot Air Strike', was the first aerial assault carried out by India in Pakistan after the 1971 Indo-Pak war. Balakot Air Strike was carried out as a reply to Pulwama attack that claimed lives of 40 CRPF officials. Second anniversary of the Balakot Operations was marked on February 26.
IAF chief RKS Bhadauria said that airpower can bring asymmetric results if time and place are chosen correctly. The IAF chief was speaking at a book launch event in New Delhi's Air Force Museum. Bhadauria released Retired Air Marshal Bharat Kumar's book 'The Epic Battle of Longewala'. "Pakistan Army's plan of armoured thrust was brilliant, but they didn't factor in airpower. 'They thought what could half a squadron sitting in Jaisalmer do? It was their mistake. Airpower can bring asymmetric results if the time and place are chosen correctly," he said. The Battle of Longewala took place in December 1971 in the Thar desert of Rajasthan.

The Indian Armed forces celebrated Veterans’ Day 2021. A wreath-laying ceremony was held at the newly created Victory at Sea Monument ‘Gaurav Stambh’ in Mumbai. All three service chiefs lauded the contribution of veterans and said that they are committed to protecting their interests. ‘Some of our veterans have expressed disappointment that 50 years celebration of the 1971 war is not being given importance. This year will be celebrated as 'Golden Victory Year' to mark 1971 war victory and various programmes would be organised across the country like exhibition, parade among other things,’ Army Chief general MM Naravane said. IAF Chief Air Marshal RKS Bhadauria and Navy Chief Karambir Singh also expressed gratitude to veterans for the service to the nation. The day was chosen as recognition of the services rendered by the first Commander-in-Chief of Indian Armed Forces, Field Marshal KM Cariappa, OBE who retired on this day in 1953. Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain while speaking to ANI informed that Delhi government has begun free vaccinations in government hospitals and paid in private hospitals for senior citizens and people above 45 years with comorbidities. "There are 192 hospitals i.e. 56 governments' (Centre+Delhi) and 136 private with about 300 centres," informed Health Minister. "Registration being done on CoWIN software," he added.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took his first dose of the COVAXIN (Bharat Biotech) at Delhi's AIIMS on March 01 as the second phase of vaccination drive began in India today. Sister P Niveda, from Puducherry, administered first dose of COVID-19 vaccine to PM Modi. "Sir (PM Modi) has been administered first dose of Bharat Biotech's Covaxin, second dose will be given after 28 days. He asked us where do we belong to and after vaccination he said, "Laga bhi di, pata hi nahi chala", said sister Niveda who inoculated PM Modi today.
