President Kovind donates over Rs 5 lakh for Ram Mandir construction
On Jan 15, President Ram Nath Kovind made the first contribution towards the construction of Ram Mandir, which is to be built in UP's Ayodhya.
Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) working president, Alok Kumar said, "He is the first citizen of the country so we went to him to initiate this drive.
He donated a sum of Rs 5,01,000." Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also made the contribution for construction of Ram Mandir.
He handed over a cheque of Rs 1 lakh to a leader of Vishva Hindu Parishad.
He said, "I am grateful to be part of such mission." Ram Mandir is to be built at the site of Ram Janmabhoomi in UP's Ayodhya.

President Ram Nath Kovind performed a 'Narmada Aarti' dedicated to Maa Narmada on March 06. Governor Anandiben Patel, CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan also performed the aarti. After former chief minister Siddaramaiah refused for donation of Ram Temple, Karnataka Minister KS Eshwarappa said 'one Siddaramaiah is enough to destroy Congress party.' "One Siddaramaiah is enough to destroy Congress party. Similarly, HD Kumaraswamy is destroying his party. Even the poor are giving Rs 10 each (for Ram temple) out of devotion. Siddaramaiah says that it's disputed land, so he won't contribute," said Karnataka Minister KS Eshwarappa. He added, "PFI tells people to not contribute (for Ram Temple) as it's disputed land, Siddaramaiah says the same. They have the same opinion. There is no difference between Siddaramaiah and PFI, they are one."
Former chief minister of Karnataka, and Janata Dal (Secular) leader HD Kumaraswamy on February 17 raised several questions on the process of Ram Mandir fund collection, he also alleged that he has been threatened to donate money. "I am not concerned about contribution of money (for Ram temple), if required I will also contribute. But who is actually giving information? Where is the transparency in collecting money? Several people are collecting money by threatening others. I am also a victim, 3 people, including a woman, came to my house. They threatened me that why am I not giving money, this is country's prime issue - why are you not giving money? Who is she? Is she authorised to come and ask me?" questioned Kumaraswamy.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, along with his wife, planted saplings at their residence on his birthday."I have decided to plant a sapling daily to continue this social campaign. I urge all to plant more trees to save the environment," he said.
District administration with the help of several organisations launched a massive cleaning campaign of Ganga in UP's Varanasi on March 07. As many as 84 Ghats were cleaned up during the campaign. Volunteers took an oath to ensure clean and neat Ganga.
A class 11 student jumped off his 15th-floor apartment and died in UP's Noida. The teen was allegedly battling depression due to his physical looks, skin complexion. The local Sector 49 police station was alerted around 5 am about the incident. Police said the body was sent for autopsy and no complaint has been made by the family. Ranvijay Singh, ADCP, Noida said, “A 17-year-old kid jumped off his apartment and died in Noida Sector 78. His parents said their son had been battling depression due to his skin complexion. The boy's parents were living separately and he was staying with his father.”

80-year-old Sevi Mohammed Sharif received a letter from Government of India in which he was told that he will be honoured with Padma Shri. A man was held for allegedly holding fake donation collecting drive for Ram temple construction. Police said the man was cheating people by collecting donations unauthorisedly in Bhopal. Manish Rajput was collecting money from Ashoka Garden shopkeepers and issuing fake slips. Local VHP workers came to know of Rajput's handiwork and approached Ashoka Garden police. FIR has been lodged against Rajput, police said they have booked him under IPC section 420. Ram Janmabhoomi Teertha Kshetra Trust is overseeing the temple construction. It has authorised RSS and VHP to collect voluntary donations from people across the nation.

Senior Congress leader Kantilal Bhuria launched a scathing attack on BJP leaders over fund collection for Ram temple construction. Bhuria alleged that BJP leaders consume alcohol with the donation money collected for Ram Temple. “BJP leaders collected crores of rupees in the name of Ram Temple construction.
