External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar met his UAE counterpart Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan at Hyderabad House in the national capital on February 26. Both the leaders discussed to strengthen bilateral ties between both the countries.
In an emotional moment, Nepal's Santosh Shah, runner-up of "BBC MasterChef UK: The Professionals" wiped his tears off as he arrived in his home country. Nepal President Bidhya Devi Bhandari on Wednesday participated in "Kshama Puja" and administered the inauguration of the new 'Jalahari' at Pashupatinath Temple. President Bhandari reached the revered Hindu holy site in the late afternoon and performed the special worship for atonement and administered the inauguration of the new 'Jalahari', the base of Shiva Linga inside the temple. Thirty-three Brahmins from India have come for worship before placing the golden 'Jalahari' in the main Shivalinga of the Pashupatinath Temple. They have been worshiping for few days. A total of 121 priests of Bhagwat Ashram and Pashupati are performing pooja. The decision of the government to replace the base of the Shiva Linga with a gold filling came into controversy as historians claimed that it is against historical and religious values. Many activists protested the plan to replace the ancient silver base with gold. Two writ petitions were also filed in the Supreme Court on Monday against the government's decision to install golden Jalahari at the Pashupatinath Temple.

After a brief decline, COVID cases once again on uphill in the country. One of the reasons of the spike is carelessness. COVID-19 precautionary measures are highly neglected at the public places. People have ditched their masks in places like CP, India Gate. On Feb 26, Delhi reported more than 250 cases, highest single-day spike in over a month.
While recently speaking to the media, Delhi Police Commissioner SN Shrivastava highlighted the efforts being made by his team to efficiently handle crime and complaints during the pandemic. "As soon as the pandemic broke out in March last year, we came up with a scheme under which a complainant could contact any senior police official, including me, through a video call. This also ensured that social distancing norms were followed. I would regularly talk to complainants. And now, we have come up with another scheme 'Integrated Complaint Management System' under which anyone can get his complaint filed online. We upload it in the same system so that every complaint comes into the system and is redressed. We aim to improve this scheme further in coming times," Shrivastava explained.
A Hyderabad family offered to adopt a Galapagos giant tortoise. Tortoise is 121-year-old and resides in Nehru Zoological Park. Tortoise is also known as the senior citizen of the park. Galapagos giant tortoise is the largest living species of tortoise. They roughly weigh around 417 kilogram.
Four persons have been arrested in Hyderabad on February 26. They have been arrested for their alleged involvement in a kidnapping case. While addressing a press conference, Commissioner of Police (CP) of Hyderabad City, Anjani Kumar said, "Two accused are still absconding. Our team safely rescued kidnapped man within 6-7 hours after complaint was received."
Union Home Minister Amit Shah reacted on Gujarat Municipal election results. Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla, who is on a 2-day visit to Russia, said that President Putin has accepted Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s invitation to visit India. He also added that relations between India and Russia are at a good place. Shringla called on Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and held talks with Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Morgulov. He also added that India is looking to collaborate with Russia to manufacture Sputnik V vaccine. Shringla said that he discussed issues of mutual interests, regional and global issues. As the vaccination drive has already been kicked off in the Himalayan nation, the inoculation drive for elderly and most vulnerable age groups will commence from next month. Nepal has received the first batch of one million COVISHIELD Vaccine developed by Serum Institute of India on Sunday via Air India flight. The vaccines would be used to inoculate people above 60 years of age, which is 8.73 per cent of Nepal's population, in the vaccination drive that will begin on March 7. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, there are 2,652,258 elderly people above 60 years in the country. On January 21st 2021, Nepal had received a total of One Million COVISHIELD Vaccine from India under grant assistance.
More than a dozen slum residents in Bhopal, India, say they thought they were being vaccinated for Covid-19. They say they later discovered from local activists that some of them hadn’t been given an approved vaccine and had unwittingly taken part in a Phase 3 clinical trial for India’s homegrown vaccine, Covaxin. Indian Council of Medical Research DG, Balram Bhargava announced that the Covaxin is successful in tackling UK strain. He further informed that UK variant strain is now present in 70 countries and 164 cases have been identified in India. "UK variant strain is now present in 70 countries and we've identified 164 cases of it in India. We were able to find the first case of the UK variant on 22nd-23rd December. In a week's time, we were able to collect blood from these patients and culture the strain. We found that the neutralisation of UK strain was equivalent to Indian strains circulating in India. It's a very reassuring news that UK variant can be tackled by this vaccine," informed ICMR DG during a press briefing on January 28.
