BKU spokesperson Rakesh Tikait said farmers' union will go to Kolkata on March 13 to speak to farmers as "Govt has gone to the state". "Govt has gone to Kolkata so we will also go there on 13th March to speak with farmers," said BKU leader Rakesh Tikait. Prime Minister Modi is currently in West Bengal to address public gathering ahead of elections. Farmers protest against farm laws is going on since November, last year.
Indian nationals in Canada received threat calls from pro-Khalistani groups for their 'tiranga rally' in support of farm laws. Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Anurag Srivastava said that the issue has been taken up with Canadian authorities both in Ottawa and Delhi. MEA spokesperson advised Indian nationals to report any such incidents to local police and Indian High Commission and consultants in Canada. "We have come across reports of threats and intimidation to some members of the Indian community in Canada. We have requested Canadian authorities to take steps to ensure the safety of Indian nationals in Canada," Anurag Srivastava added.

India reported 15,388 new COVID-19 cases and 16, 596 discharges with 77 deaths in the last 24 hours, as per the Union Health Ministry. 2.26 crore people vaccinated against COVID-19 in the country so far. The total active cases in India stand at 1,87,462.
As the vaccination drive against COVID-19 is in full swing, around 100 saints at the Swaminarayan temple in Ahmedabad also received their shots on March 08. As per the data released by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), India on March 07 reported single-day spike of 18,711 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours. 100 deaths in the same period pushed the COVID-19 toll in the country to 1,57,756. India's confirmed cases of coronavirus stand at 1,12,10,799 which include 1,84,523 active infections. More than 1,08,68,520 people have recovered from the virus with 14,392 new discharges in last 24 hours. Till date the total vaccination is 2,09,22,344. According to Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 7,37,830 samples were tested on March 06. Cumulative samples tested for COVID-19 till March 06 are 22,14,30,507.
According to the Health Ministry, total of 1,01,88,007 beneficiaries have been vaccinated in India for COVID-19 so far. India reported 13,193 new COVID-19 cases and 10,896 discharges on February 19. With new infections, the COVID tally of the country stood at 1,09,63,394 which includes 1,39,542 active cases. 1,06,67,741 patients have been discharged across the country. With 97 deaths in the last 24 hours, the death toll rose to 1,56,111.
