At least 1,65,714 healthcare beneficiaries received COVID-19 jab on Saturday across India, marking it as a historic and biggest COVID-19 vaccination drive launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
About 16,755 total vaccinators involved across India during the COVID vaccination drive.
There was no post adverse event reported after the vaccination was administered to the people.

COVID19 vaccination drive was successful on Day 1.
No case of post-vaccination hospitalisation reported so far," said Manohar Agnani, Additional Secretary of Union Health Ministry.

Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Anurag Srivastava said that the issue has been taken up with Canadian authorities both in Ottawa and Delhi. MEA spokesperson advised Indian nationals to report any such incidents to local police and Indian High Commission and consultants in Canada. "We have come across reports of threats and intimidation to some members of the Indian community in Canada. We have requested Canadian authorities to take steps to ensure the safety of Indian nationals in Canada," Anurag Srivastava added.

As per the data released by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), India on March 07 reported single-day spike of 18,711 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours. 100 deaths in the same period pushed the COVID-19 toll in the country to 1,57,756. India's confirmed cases of coronavirus stand at 1,12,10,799 which include 1,84,523 active infections. More than 1,08,68,520 people have recovered from the virus with 14,392 new discharges in last 24 hours. Till date the total vaccination is 2,09,22,344. According to Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 7,37,830 samples were tested on March 06. Cumulative samples tested for COVID-19 till March 06 are 22,14,30,507.
