Defence Minister of Kazakhstan, Lieutenant General Nurlan Yermekbayev was accorded with the Guard of Honour at Vigyan Bhawan in Delhi on April 09. Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh was also present. Lt General Yermekbayev is on an official visit to India from April 7 to 10.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on April 02 inaugurated the 2.2 km Tedhipulia flyover in Lucknow. Talking about the details of the flyover, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh informed that the four-lane flyover built on a single pillar using modern technology aimed to provide relief from the daily traffic is worth Rs. 88 crore. Rajnath Singh said, "Today 1,830 metre long and four-lane flyover was inaugurated on April 02. The budget for the construction of the flyover is 88 crore. The daily traffic on this route was found to be up to 42 thousand and is continuously increasing. In June 2019, the work started and even during the COVID regime the assigned task was completed. The importance of the flyover is that it is built on a single pillar using modern technology."
Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh slammed Congress and DMK in Tamil Nadu ahead of Assembly polls in the state. Singh said that BJP does not do politics of caste, creed, and religion like Congress and DMK. Singh added that BJP does politics of humanity and justice. Amid the surge in COVID-19 cases in the Uttar Pradesh, administration took precautionary measures to contain the spread of virus. Lucknow administration imposed night curfew and restrictions on attendees at wedding ceremony. The announcement has adversely affected the wedding businesses which are still recovering from the aftermath of lockdown. The demand of wedding commodities has now fallen. The state government has imposed night curfew in parts of UP on April 08. Uttar Pradesh has registered 31,987 active cases so far.
Coronavirus cases are on uphill across country as second wave of pandemic tightens its grip. In wake of the rising infections, after Delhi, Noida and Ghaziabad have also imposed night curfew. Night restrictions also imposed in Lucknow and Prayagraj. "Night curfew has been imposed till further orders, all essential services have been exempted but in order to prove they must have proper permission and Id-card with them," said Ranvijay Singh ADCP Noida.

Army Chief General MM Naravane, speaking on the India-China disengagement at Ladakh, on Tuesday said that India has not lost out on any territory and the situation was where it was before the border dispute started. "We have not lost out on any territory, we are where we were before this whole thing started...Not an inch of land has been lost," he told ANI when asked about the disengagement process between the two countries.

Indian Army chief spoke on ceasefire agreement between India & Pakistan. General MM Naravane said that terror camps still exist on the other side of the Line of Control (LoC). Naravane said that recent attacks are acts of desperation to spoil atmosphere. “Terror camps and infrastructure still exist on the other side of the LoC. For terrorism to come down, those camps have to get dismantled. Only when the snows melt, we will come to know how serious Pakistan is about dismantling this terror infrastructure.
