An Air France flight en route from Paris to New Delhi made an emergency landing at Sofia Airport in Bulgaria on Friday at about 5 pm because of a disruptive passenger. The passenger, an Indian citizen, began to act up soon after take-off, quarrelling with other passengers, assaulting a flight attendant and pummeling the cockpit’s door.

A bus conductor in Tamil Nadu, who has planted over 3 lakh saplings in the last 30 years using his own money, is garnering appreciation on social media. Marimuthu Yoganathan is a bus conductor in the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation. Yoganathan in Coimbatore distributes saplings for free of cost to passengers travelling in his bus. He spends 40% of his salary to take care of these plants. Seeing his dedication, a friend from US donated 3 acres of land to Marimuthu where he works daily after duty. A known eco activist, Yoganathan has been awarded "Eco Warrior" award by Vice-President of India, 'Unsung Hero' award by wildlife film-maker Mike Pandey and film actor John Abraham in "Timberland" function held in Delhi.
A thick blanket of fog continued to engulf the national capital leading to poor visibility in several areas in the morning of January 09. Parts of the northern India are under the spell of severe cold, making the daily lives difficult for citizens. Minimum temperature of 12.2 degrees Celsius and 11.8 degrees Celsius was recorded at Palam and Safdarjung respectively, reported India Meteorological Department.
India Meteorological Department (Bhubaneswar) Director, HR Biswas said that hot weather conditions prevailing in Bhubaneswar and in some districts of Odisha. He said that Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded highest temperature for February 27. "Bhubaneswar's airport area recorded 40.6 degree Celsius which is highest in Odisha and it may be highest in India," he said.
