Veer Savarkar's portrait in UP Assembly irks Congress, SP

A portrait of Hindutva ideologue Veer Savarkar has been installed in the picture gallery of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council.

The portrait was inaugurated by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on January 19.

The Congress and the Samajwadi Party have demonstrated against a portrait of Savarkar.

Congress MLC Deepak Singh wrote a letter to Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council Chairman Ramesh Yadav and sought immediate removal of Veer Savarkar's photo from the gallery.
