Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra took a jibe at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi by saying that Prime Minister Narendra Modi including top leaders of BJP who also hold ministerial positions are campaigning in different parts of country for upcoming assembly elections and Rahul Gandhi which he called 'Puppu' is catching fish. "Look at the difference. Modi ji is campaigning in Tamil Nadu, Amit Shah ji in West Bengal, Nadda ji is in Assam, Rajnath Singh is in Kerala, and 'Pappu' is catching fish, then they'll say EVMs are malfunctioning," he said. Rahul Gandhi was seen fishing with the fishermen during his Kerala visit.
Union Minister Prakash Javadekar on January 29 interacted with NCC cadets, who took part in the Republic Day parade. "I'm proud of you. It's only by your own hard work that you were able to participate in Republic Day parade. NCC is one of best ways to inculcate discipline and forge lifelong bonds," said Prakash Javadekar.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 28 said that around one lakh NCC cadets, which include more than 30% girl cadets, are being trained by Army, Navy and Air Force for border areas. PM said, "On 15th August last year, it was announced that NCC will be given new responsibilities in around 175 districts in the coastal and border areas. For this around, 1 lakh NCC cadets are being trained by Army, Navy and Air Force. Of these, 1/3rd cadets are girls."
Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a NCC Rally at Cariappa Ground praised cadets for their efforts in handling hard times like floods, COVID situation in the country last year. "Be it the floods or any other calamity, NCC cadets helped the people of this country last year. During the Corona period, lakhs of cadets worked with the administration and society across the country. It is commendable," said PM Narendra Modi.
154 monks have been tested COVID-19 positive in Gyuto Tantric Monastery in Himachal Pradesh's Sidhbari. A total of 330 monks have been tested so far. The monastery has been declared as 'containment zone'. Kangra CMO Dr GD Gupta said, "Following initial cases on Feb 23rd, 330 monks tested so far for COVID-19 and 154 of them tested positive at Gyuto Tantric Monastery, Sidhbari. One monk in critical condition shifted to Tanda Medical College, others in isolation in the monastery itself. Monks who have been home-isolated, had travelled from Karnataka and Delhi during new year celebrations."
