Amazon Prime Video's India Originals Head Aparna Purohit recorded her statement in connection with an FIR registered against her and others over alleged derogatory depiction of Hindu deities in web series ‘Tandav’. The FIR was lodged at Hazratganj police station in Uttar Pradesh for allegedly hurting religious sentiments. “The probe is on in the case related to the 'Tandav' web series," informed Deputy Commissioner of Police Somen Barma. In January, an FIR was lodged at the police station against Purohit, director Ali Abbas, producer Himanshu Krishna Mehra, writer Gaurav Solanki, and an unidentified person. The nine-episode political thriller starring Saif Ali Khan, Dimple Kapadia and Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub, started streaming on the platform in January. Watch the full video for more.

In a bid to raise awareness about COVID-19 pandemic, students of Allahabad University's Fine Arts faculty created sand art at Sangam Ghat. Artists have created a sand sculpture of Uttar Pradesh Police wearing a face mask, battling the contagious disease. Uttar Pradesh registered 15,353 fresh COVID cases in past 24 hours.
Due to spike in COVID-19 cases, night curfew has been imposed in Delhi till April 30. Police barricading was place to keep a check on the vehicular movement. Uttar Pradesh Police also checked identity cards of commuters entering Noida from Delhi at Chilla Border. The night curfew has been imposed in Noida between 10 pm and 5 pm till April 17 in view of rising cases of COVID-19. Addl CP (L and O) of GautamBuddha Nagar district, Love Kumar said, "We're asking commuters as to why they're travelling during night curfew. We allow them (to enter Noida) if we find their reasons satisfactory. Many people aren't aware of the night curfew. We'll strictly implement it from tomorrow."

BJP MP Kaushal Kishore from Mohanlalganj Kaushal Kishore has appealed to Election Commission to postpone panchayat polls amid rise in COVID-19 cases. "COVID-19 cases in Lucknow is increasing rapidly, saving life of people is important conducting election is not," he said. The first phase of polling of Uttar Pradesh Gram Panchayat Election will take place on April 15, second phase on April 19, third phase on April 26 and fourth on April 29.
Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath tested positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday. Taking to Twitter, Adityanath said he is in self-isolation and doing tasks virtually. On Tuesday, the CM isolated himself after some staffers in his office tested positive. Development comes shortly after the UP CM wrapped up his campaign for Bengal polls. Adityanath took the first jab of COVID-19 vaccine on April 05 at a Civil Hospital in Lucknow. Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has tested positive for coronavirus. Yadav had recently visited Haridwar where Kumbh Mela is underway & met religious leaders. Uttar Pradesh urban development minister Ashutosh Tandon has also tested positive. UP govt has already announced restrictions on gatherings of people in view of Covid. Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday reported highest-ever single-day spike of 18,021 cases and 85 deaths. Adityanath govt has also imposed a night curfew in districts with over 500 active cases.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on April 14 tested positive for COVID-19. He is in a self-isolation since April 13 after few staff members tested COVID positive. The UP CM took the first jab of COVID-19 vaccine on April 05 at a Civil Hospital in Lucknow.
A man and a woman were found shot dead in a car in Bania Khera area of Lucknow Cantt at around 9 pm on April 12. "Prima facie, it seems the man shot the woman dead before shooting himself," said Additional DCP (East) Qasim Abidi.
An ambulance caught fire outside a welding shop at Kineshwar Chauraha in Lucknow city on April 12. The ambulance was at the welding shop for repair. Oxygen cylinder blasted at the welding shop leading to the ambulance catching fire. Fire Tenders and Police reached the spot, and flames were brought in control. There are reports of few people sustaining injuries. More details are awaited.
