The centre of Northwich has been hit by flooding, with water entering somebusinesses in the town centre and homes evacuated.
Roads into the town centrehave been closed and pedestrians are being asked to avoid the area due tofootpaths being “under numerous inches of water”, police said on Twitter.
Environment Secretary George Eustice says the government is considering changing the formula in which it determines how its funds are distributed in flood-stricken areas.
He suggests town that are hit by floods more frequently, "may be three or four times in a decade", will be eligible to more money.

Children from a group of nurseries have adopted 248 animals at Chester Zoo in Cheshire, England.
Children, families and staff took part in a campaign to raise money for the zoo, after hearing of the venue’s financial struggles during the pandemic.
The campaign raised £20,000, enough to pay for the care and upkeep of almost 250 animals.
Chester Zoo has reported losses of nearly £10m since the start of the pandemic, after the venue was forced to close its doors three times due to coronavirus restrictions.
