Gov. Ron DeSantis said starting March 15 the state will be lowering the age to 60 years old for Florida residents that can receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
With cities and states loosening restrictions as new COVID-19 cases recede and the rollout of vaccines accelerates, people are enjoying a taste of their old lives again, with New Yorkers going to movie theaters and people in San Francisco dining indoors.
The B.1.1.7 variant of the coronavirus is spreading like wildfire across the U.S., and Florida is leading the pack with the highest number of cases. Scientists predict the variant is now the dominant strain in the Sunshine State as of Monday, March 8.
India reported 15,388 new COVID-19 cases and 16, 596 discharges with 77 deaths in the last 24 hours, as per the Union Health Ministry. 2.26 crore people vaccinated against COVID-19 in the country so far. The total active cases in India stand at 1,87,462.
As the vaccination drive against COVID-19 is in full swing, around 100 saints at the Swaminarayan temple in Ahmedabad also received their shots on March 08. Interestingly, the jabs were given to the saints at the Swaminarayan temple where all the arrangements were done for the vaccination. The 2nd phase of the vaccination drive had started on March 01 which covers people above the age of 60 and those over 45 with existing health conditions.
