Won't speak anything: CM Mamata after 'Jai Shree Ram' chants at Netaji event
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee resused to speak after 'Jai Shree Ram' slogans were raised when she was invited to speak during the celebrations of 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at Victoria Memorial in Kolkata on January 23.
"I think Government's program should have dignity.
This is not a political program.
It doesn't suit you to insult someone after inviting them.
As a protest, I won't speak anything," said CM Mamata.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was present during the celebrations.

In Murshidabad, clashes erupted during a Ram Navami procession, leaving about 20 injured from stone pelting. Prohibitory orders were enforced under Section 144. Another incident involved a blast in Shaktipur, injuring a woman. The BJP accused Mamata Banerjee of inciting tensions, while the TMC blamed the BJP for provoking clashes. Police intervened, and Section 144 was imposed district-wide.

West Bengal recorded the highest turnout till 5 PM at 77.57 per cent, followed by Tripura at 76.10 per cent. Voter turnout in Assam stood at 70.77 per cent, while Manipur recorded a voter turnout of 68.58 per cent till 5 PM.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) apprehended two suspects - Mussavir Hussain Shazib and Abdul Matheen Taha - in connection with Bengaluru's Rameswaram Cafe blast case on Friday. The two were nabbed near West Bengal's Kolkata. Mussavir Hussain Shazib has been identified as the alleged "mastermind" behind the low-intensity blast that occurred at a prominent eatery in Bengaluru on March 1. Shazib is accused of placing the improvised explosive device (IED) at the cafe. Additionally, Abdul Matheen Taha is implicated as a co-conspirator in the incident. Both Taha and Shazib hail from Thirthahalli in Shivamogga district, according to statements from the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
