Sweden Ambassador to India, Klas Molin, on March 06 said that the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the European Union (EU) and India will be negotiated at an aggregate level as per the special mechanism set up during the last summit. "Trade agreements, as Sweden is member of EU, is negotiated by European Commission. Talks on for investment and trade, special mechanism was set up during last summit between India and EU so agreements on it will be negotiated at aggregate level," said Molin. On Mar 05, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a virtual interaction with his Swedish counterpart Stefan Lofven where the two leaders discussed bilateral ties and called for further cooperation on climate change.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired BJP’s central election committee meeting in Delhi. BJP’s CEC met to finalise party candidates ahead of elections. Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has allotted six seats to its ally Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) to contest in upcoming assembly elections. Thirumavalavan said, "It is important to go along with Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) in this assembly polls as Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) are targeting Tamil Nadu and Puducherry in the absence of Kalaignar and Jayalalithaa. We won't allow them to come to power and develop here. We shouldn't break DMK led alliance." "We have signed for 6 seats with DMK today," VCK chief added. Tamil Nadu will go to polls on April 6.
BJP Vice President Jay Panda on March 05 lambasted on Congress for alliance with All India United Democratic Front ahead of Assam polls and termed it blatantly communal alliance. "Alliance between Congress and AIUDF is blatantly communal. Late Tarun Gogoi ji took great pain to avoid AIUDF like plague. In Bengal too, Congress has tied up with an Islamist communal party. Congress leaders are now speaking out against this kind of blatant hypocrisy," said Panda.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a road show in Coimbatore ahead of his rally in the city. During the rally, PM Modi said that PM-KISAN scheme in its 2 years has benefitted 11 crore farmers. "For many years, the farmers of India demanded MSP rise. It was our government that had the opportunity to bring a holistic MSP rise," he added. He further said, "In the past 7 years, our efforts for farmers are aimed at giving them a life of prosperity and dignity. From kisan health cards to soil health cards, we want to bring a paradigm shift in the agriculture sector."
On increased petrol prices, president of All India Petroleum Dealers Association, Ajay Bansal said, "Whenever there is an increase in prices of crude oil, petrol and diesel, government give concession in excise to adjust prices. Both Central and State governments should reduce VAT and excise amount. Currently, 70% of petrol rate is tax. Under one nation one rate, GST should be picked up by both State and Central government. There is around 65-70% tax on petroleum. Even if GST is kept in the highest slab of 28%, there will be huge reduction in petrol price."
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on January 23 addressed the representatives of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) in Coimbatore.
