While addressing at an event in Hyderabad on January 23, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu said, "By freedom, Netaji didn't mean merely emancipation from political bondage, but also equal distribution of wealth, the abolition of caste barriers and social inequalities, destruction of communalism and religious intolerance." "You love and practice your religion but don't hate others," he added.
Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu inaugurated 'Pediatric Rare Genetic Disorders Laboratory' at the Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics (CDFD) in Hyderabad's Uppal area. "I'm really impressed with the good amount of work you're doing in the form of research and particularly rare diseases and figure prints itself is an important aspect of life because it helps us to really identify who have committed the crime and DNA of children," said VP Venkaiah Naidu.

An ex-serviceman, who was a star medal awardee during the India-China war, now drives an autorickshaw in Hyderabad for a living. Sheikh Abdul Kareem, participated in the India-China war and was posted in Lahaul area. He has now urged the government to provide a house to ex-servicemen who fought to defend the country. βDespite winning a good service medal, I have not even received any sort of pension or any financial support from the government. Ex-Army personnel and star medal awardee drives auto rickshaw on Hyderabad streets to earn his bread and butter. Sheik Abdul Kareem received a special award for his contribution in the1971 Indo-China war. During Indira Gandhi reign due to surplus of army personnel, several were removed from their postings. The 71-year-old served in the army for 9 years but now is homeless and is fighting daily for a living. Kareem requested the government for financial support in the form of pension and shelter.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 24 attended a program organised for his interaction with the NCC cadets, NSS volunteers and artists participating in the Republic Day Parade.
