The UK’s vaccine minister has revealed he lost his uncle to COVID-19 last week and said it has made him “determined” to deliver doses as soon as possible.Nadhim Zahawi, who oversees the Britain’s vaccine deployment, said the relative was eligible for a jab but was infected before receiving it.He told Piers Morgan on Good Morning Britain: “It’s painful, and it’s closer to home than you think, Piers, in terms of losing relatives and family.“I lost my uncle last week to COVID, but you’re right it is grim and horrible but our way out of this is the vaccination programme.Credit: Good Morning Britain / ITV

In their first interview, the parents of a sixteen-year-old boy who took his own life just hours after he was blackmailed by a scammer have told ITV News their "whole world has been shattered". Murray Dowey, 16, from Dunblane was contacted on social media by someone claiming to be a young girl but was actually a scammer, who tricked him into sending an intimate image and then blackmailed him with it. A secret audio recording obtained by ITV News has revealed Post Office boss Paula Vennells was told directly about problems with the Horizon system and warned not to cover them up. In a meeting with independent investigators from Second Sight on July 2, 2013, Ms Vennells was made aware of allegations that sub-postmaster branch accounts could be accessed remotely. This is something the Post Office had denied for years.
