Did Akshay, Tendulkar & others tweet under BJP pressure? Maha govt to probe

Politics continues to escalate over the tweets by Indian celebrities as pushback to tweets by some global celebs including Rihanna, Greta Thunberg and others.

Congress leader Sachin Sawant has said that like democratic and independent institutions, there could be pressure from the BJP on these celebrities to tweet on the issue.

‘Celebrities have a right to speak their mind, but the tweets are extremely similar and there should be a probe to ascertain if they were under pressure to stick to one narrative,’ Sawant said.

The Congress leader met Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh and said that the government has agreed to probe the matter.
