The bridge between Dhubri in Assam and Phulbari in Meghalaya will cut the distance from 250 kms to 19 kms, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 18 during the launch of multiple initiatives in poll bound Assam.
"Distance between Assam and Meghalaya is around 250 kms by road.
In the future, it will only be 19-20 kms. This bridge will also prove to be significant for international movement of traffic to other nations," said PM Modi.

Over 102 parliamentary constituencies in 21 states and union territories headed to the polling booth on Friday, including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir, Puducherry, Lakshadweep, and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
