ITBP Director General SS Deswal on disengagement of India-China army troops informed that the government has given the mandate of border management to ITBP.
DG SS Deswal said, "Disengagement is only between armies.
We will continue to conduct our short and long-range patrol.
Patrolling will be strengthened, Army will be behind us." On the functioning of Sardar Patel COVID Care Center and Hospital, Radha Soami Satsang Beas in Chhatarpur, DG SS Deswal said that both the centres will be closed within a week once patients currently admitted are discharged.
"No new patients will be admitted.
The city's hospitals are equipped to handle the current numbers," he added.
A fire broke out in a two-storied house in the wee hours on April 11 in Sikkim's Lachung near a General Reserve Engineer Force (GREF) Camp. The fire has been doused. A short-circuit is reported to have caused the fire. Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) rescue teams reached the spot and extricated five gas cylinders from the building. No injury or loss of life has been reported.
Indo-Tibetan Border Police organised a COVID-19 awareness camp in far-flung and impoverished villages located in Jammu and Kashmir's Udhampur. It was ITBP's 8th camp in the district aimed to educate locals about the pandemic and the required precautions. ITBP officials distributed masks, sanitisers, spray pumps and soaps to the locals. One ITBP official said, "We enjoy doing this work and it feels like we are working among our people. It makes us feel happy."
The second phase of voting is underway in West Bengal on April 01. During the voting process, ITBP troops guarded polling booths in Purba Medinipur district and also helped out senior citizens there. Eight-phase West Bengal polls will conclude on April 29 and the counting of votes is scheduled for May 02.

The Union Home Ministry has directed a phased closure of two special and temporary COVID care centres in the city in view of "continuous decline" in coronavirus cases, officials said on Tuesday. While the Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel COVID hospital located in the Delhi Cantonment area is managed by the DRDO, the Sardar Patel COVID Care Centre operational in south Delhi's Chhattarpur area is managed by the ITBP.
