The Supreme Court today granted relief from arrest to Amazon Prime Video's India head Aparna Purohit in the ongoing investigation against the web series 'Tandav. SC said that the Government rules on social media and OTT platforms have no teeth and thus no power for prosecution. The top court bench was hearing her appeal against the Allahabad High Court's February 25 order declining anticipatory bail.

Amazon Prime Video's India Originals Head Aparna Purohit recorded her statement in connection with an FIR registered against her and others over alleged derogatory depiction of Hindu deities in web series ‘Tandav’. The FIR was lodged at Hazratganj police station in Uttar Pradesh for allegedly hurting religious sentiments. “The probe is on in the case related to the 'Tandav' web series," informed Deputy Commissioner of Police Somen Barma. In January, an FIR was lodged at the police station against Purohit, director Ali Abbas, producer Himanshu Krishna Mehra, writer Gaurav Solanki, and an unidentified person. The nine-episode political thriller starring Saif Ali Khan, Dimple Kapadia and Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub, started streaming on the platform in January. Watch the full video for more.

A liquid oxygen plant has been set up in Lucknow's Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences hospital. SGPI Director Professor R.K Dhiman inaugurated the plant on April 17. COVID-19 cases are on the rise in the state capital. According to the Union Health Ministry, there are 1,50,676 active cases in Uttar Pradesh.

Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) began demolition of illegal properties of people associated with gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari. The properties are being demolished at Hazratganj area on March 06. Mukhtar Ansari is currently lodged in Ropar Jail.
