Nilanshi Patel from Modasa in Gujarat, who won the Guinness World Record title for the longest hair on a teenager three years ago, has finally cut her hair for the first time in 12 years. According to Guinness World Records, Nilanshi won the title for the longest hair ever on a teenager in 2018. Around a minute-long video was shared by the Guinness World Records on Instagram that documented Nilanshi’s haircut.The final seconds of the video showed the 18-year-old teenager kissing her long locks before bidding them goodbye and embracing her new haircut.

The demand of oxygen has been doubled in several parts of Gujarat amid surge in COVID-19 cases. Oxygen plants are working overtime to fulfill the demands of the hospitals. Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot and Ahmedabad among other smaller districts have emerged as highest consumers of medical oxygen. The demand of medical oxygen has increased as critical cases pile up in private and government hospitals. According to owner of Mukesh Patel, the demand of medical oxygen has risen from 20-30 per cent. Gujarat has reported 8,152 new COVID-19 cases and 81 deaths in last 24 hours.
Delhi police commissioner SN Shrivastava has warned people over the weekend curfew in the national capital. He said that those who violate the restrictions put in place could even be arrested. Shrivastava said that the Delhi police will enforce the restrictions strictly and added that essential services will be allowed to operate without any hassle. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had announced the weekend curfew after a meeting with LG Anil Baijal. The decision was taken in the wake of rising Covid cases in the capital. Amid surge in COVID cases, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on April 15 assured that there is no shortage of beds in hospitals for coronavirus patients. "According to the latest data, more than 5000 beds are available," said CM Kejriwal during a press conference. He further urged people to not be selective about the hospitals as the priority is to get admitted.
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Odisha is leading an indefinite strike since last 9 days over hike in power tariffs in the state. Party's state head Nishikanta Mohapatra said despite Odisha being a power surplus state, the government has raised the price of electricity multiple times in the state in the last five months. Calling electricity a basic right, Mohapatra urged the government to make power up to 200 units free in the state. Incidentally, AAP does not have any legislators in Odisha, and the protest is being seen as its strategy to make base in the state.
BJP's Surat unit distributed Remdesivir injections free of cost to relatives of needy COVID-19 patients on April 10. A long queue of people was seen outside the BJP office to get the injections. MLA from Udhna, Vivek Patel said, "We're giving free injections to the needy in line with state BJP chief CR Patil's announcement to distribute 5,000 Remdesivir injections." Remdesivir is considered a key anti-viral drug in the fight against COVID-19 especially in adult patients with severe complications.
COVID-19 cases continued to rise in the country. The migrant workers began to return to their native places from Surat due to surge in COVID cases. A migrant worker said, "People are going home because they fear lockdown could be imposed once again. And they want to avoid the pain they endured during the lockdown last year." Migrant workers were seen at large number at bus depot to leave the city.
