Chief Minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar on April 09 said he is in a favour of the COVID-19 vaccination to journalists of all age groups after the sudden surge in COVID-19 cases in country. "I am in the favour of the vaccination of journalists of all age groups. They go everywhere to cover news and should be included among frontline workers," CM said.
Amid COVID-19 surge in the country, Chief Minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar on April 09 informed that people coming by trains from Maharashtra will be tested for COVID-19 at the railway stations in the state. "For those from Bihar who are returning to the State due to the current COVID19 situation, arrangements are being made for them. Those coming by trains from Maharashtra will be tested for COVID-19 at the railway stations," CM said during a press conference in Patna. Bihar has reported around 1900 fresh cases of COVID in last 24 hours.
Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav on March 25 slammed JDU government in Bihar over the action against opposition MLAs and sharply criticised Bihar Special Armed Police Bill 2021. "Bihar Police has become JDU's and Nitish Kumar's Police. Officers and CM should realize that we aren't BJP that we'll be scared of batons. Nitish Kumar will have to take back the black law or amend it," Tejashwi said.

Four-day Covid-19 vaccine festival ‘Tika Utsav’ began in the country on April 11. It’s being observed with an aim to inoculate maximum number of eligible people. Three people arrested in a bike theft case were found COVID positive in Bihar's Muzaffarpur. According to the police, they will send accused for treatment. "3 people arrested in a bike theft case were found COVID positive in Muzaffarpur. We have recovered the motorcycle and will send accused for treatment," said a police official.
A station house officer (SHO) of Bihar Police was beaten to death by a crowd in West Bengal on April 09. SHO of Kishanganj Police Station in Bihar, Ashwini Kumar, visited a village in Goalpokhar Police Station area of Uttar Dinajpur to probe a theft case when he was thrashed by the locals. Speaking on the matter, Suresh Kumar Choudhary, IG Purnia Range said, "He had come for a raid in connection with a bike theft. Islampur SP is with us. We'll raid and make arrests."
COVID cases continued to surge in Bihar and during this time, jewellers in Patna are facing hardship. The increased number of COVID cases has hampered jewellery sales during wedding season. A jeweller in Patna said, "Last year was very bad for us. But this year too, business prospects are not good for us, especially for small jewellers catering to middle-class families because they are struggling with extreme cash crunch. This has affected our business." The rescheduling or cancelling of wedding have directly hit the sales and a jeweller said, "Jewellery sales are not up to our expectations because weddings are being rescheduled or cancelled due to rising cases." A few customers are visiting the stores due to COVID fear.
Amid scarcity of COVID-19 vaccines in some states, a special transport special transport vehicle carrying COVID-19 vaccine, (Covishield) broke down in Patna on April 09. Pharmacist Mukesh Kumar, who accompanied the van carrying vaccine doses said that 89,689 vials being transported in this van. Each vial contains 10 doses.
