Uttarakhand: People pelted stones after police tried to stop protesters at a barrier in Diwali Khal area.

They were going to hold protest demonstration demanding the expansion of 19-km road from Ghat to Nandprayag, near Garsain.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat on Monday labelled the clash between police and demonstrators in Gairsain as extremely unfortunate.

The incident is being taken seriously, CM Rawat said adding that a magisterial enquiry has been ordered into the matter.
