"When I had come to meet family of Dipanjal Das (killed in Guwahati during anti-CAA protests in 2019) I felt that bullets weren't fired at one youth, it was fired at Assam. It was attempted to murder Assam. He wasn't just a youth, he was an idea. He was Assam. Dipanjal Das was a youth of Assam. BJP government didn't do what it was supposed to. They didn't provide him employment and when he stood for Assam peacefully, he was shot dead by BJP-RSS. We give you 5 guarantees, the 1st being that we won't let CAA get implemented in Assam," said Rahul Gandhi.
Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital (MMCH) an annex hospital of Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) witnessed a surge in consultation as the number of coronavirus cases rise in the state. "The government of Assam is ready with hospitals for the admission of the COVID patients. Initially, patients were admitted at Kalapahar hospital and subsequently will also start giving admissions to COVID positive patients as per the instructions of the higher authorities. As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to rage across the country, Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi asked Centre to lower the COVID vaccine age eligibility to 25 and above. "India has already exported nearly 6.5 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses to other countries. Considering the highest infection rate in the world in our own country, shouldn't vaccine export be held back and priority given to our citizens? Government must reconsider its priority for vaccine candidates by reducing the immunisation eligibility age to 25 and also to those young people with at-risk health disorders like asthma, angina, diabetes, kidney and liver diseases," questioned Congress president.
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to rage across India, Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi alleged that BJP ruled states have been receiving preferential treatment in terms of medical equipment. "Some of our chief ministers told me that they were left with a few days of vaccines. They had no oxygen and they were running out of ventilators. But there has been a thundering silence on the part of the government. On the contrary, some other states of interests to the BJP have been receiving preferential treatment in terms of equipment etc," said Congress president.

Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh attacked West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee over her dharna against EC's campaign ban. Ghosh blamed the Bengal CM for deaths in Cooch Behar during the fourth phase of polling. “She (Mamata) is targeting the Election Commission and giving direction to loot EVMs. Mamata Banerjee is completely responsible for the deaths (in Sitalkuchi). She is not following the decision taken by EC and is sitting on dharna. She, who protests against SC and the Constitution, will never follow law,” said Ghosh. Mamata is sitting on dharna next to a Mahatma Gandhi's statue at Kolkata's Mayo road. EC imposed a 24-hour ban on the TMC supremo from campaigning in any manner. Ban has been imposed over Mamata's remarks against the central forces. Meanwhile, EC also issued a notice to Ghosh for his remarks on the Sitalkuchi incident.

Prime Minsiter Narendra Modi will visit Bangladesh on Mar 26. He'll be on two day visit to the neighbouring country. During his visit, he will be inaugurating Bapu Bangabandhu Digital Video Exhibition in Dhaka. High Commissioner of India in Bangladesh, Vikram Doraiswami said, "It is celebration of 50 years bilateral relationship of India and Bangladesh. Bapu Bangabandhu was the younger contemporary of Mahatma Gandhi. It's been years since any Indian Prime Minister visited Bangladesh. The idea is to showcase the connectedness between our two cultures and histories. This is the first time any Indian dignitary to actually pay personal tribute to Bangabandhu at his Samadhi."
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar responded to alleged racism charges in the UK during the Rajya Sabha session on Monday. Jaishankar was responding to a question raised by BJP MP Ashwini Vaishnav. Jaishankar said that the issue will be taken up with the UK when required. "As a friend of the UK, we also have concerns about its reputational impact," Jaishankar said. "What I do want to say is that we have strong ties with the UK (and) we will take up such matters with great candour when required," he said. "I do want to say that as a land of Mahatma Gandhi, we can never ever turn our eyes away from racism wherever it is. Actor Anupam Kher attended an event organised to mark the launch of MK Gandhi's iconic march to Dandi in 1930 to symbolically break the malicious salt law imposed by the British.
