Large number of devotees visited Shri Bankey Bihari Temple in Mathura on April 09. They were seen flouting COVID-19 guidelines while offering prayers. Despite the priest urging devotees to wear face mask and maintain social distancing, they were seen violating the norms. Uttar Pradesh has reported 9,695 fresh COVID cases in last 24 hours.
Amid the surge in COVID-19 cases in the Uttar Pradesh, administration took precautionary measures to contain the spread of virus. Lucknow administration imposed night curfew and restrictions on attendees at wedding ceremony. The announcement has adversely affected the wedding businesses which are still recovering from the aftermath of lockdown. The demand of wedding commodities has now fallen. The state government has imposed night curfew in parts of UP on April 08. Uttar Pradesh has registered 31,987 active cases so far.
Despite the rise in COVID-19 cases in UP's Morabadad, people were seen flouting COVID norms, they were neither wearing wearing masks nor following social distancing. District administration took an initiative to create awareness among people and tapped the services of Yamraj, the God of Death. A local artist, dressed as Yamraj, was seen creating awareness among people about COVID-19 pandemic, urging them to wear a mask and observe social distancing.He kept a piece of board along with lines, "Dharti wasio humara workload mat badhao, mask lagao aur distancing rakho", and kept saying "Mask lagao nahi to mai aa raha hun, Yum hai hum, hum hai Yum." Vicky, the artist said, "Corona is spreading rapidly so I request people of the city to wear masks and maintain social distancing wherever they go."
Government Railway Police (GRP) apprehended a fake TTE in Uttar Pradesh's Aligarh on April 08. Fake TTE, Deep Shubham was caught on spot checking tickets in Northeast Express train. He also demanded money from without ticket passengers. Passengers raised doubt and inform the other TTE who was present in the train. Soon after, GRP took cognizance of the matter and arrested the fake TTE. He is a resident of Bihar who has done MPhil from JNU.
A police sub-inspector Prashant Kumar Yadav was shot dead in Agra on March 24 as he went to solve dispute between two brothers. Prashant Kumar's family mourned his untimely death and was in deep shock after the incident. Family demanded jobs and double compensation after his death. Government had assured Rs 50 lakh as compensation and a job security for a family member.
The body of a 12-year-old girl was found buried in a pit in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr district. The body was found near a house of a villager five days after the girl went missing. The villager’s son who is the prime suspect is absconding. “The girl was having a meal with her mother and sisters in a field on February 25. The girl had gone looking for water to a nearby house and never returned,” said Bulandshahr Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) SK Singh. According to the police, a man was living in the house with his father, where the girl had gone looking for water. The father has been arrested and police are still looking for the boy.
