Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) released its manifesto for Puducherry Assembly elections on March 26. It was released by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Union Ministers Arjun Ram Meghwal and Giriraj Singh. BJP announced nine candidates from the UT in the upcoming polls. Puducherry elections are scheduled to be held in a single phase, with the polling on April 6 and counting of votes on May 2.
Union Minister Giriraj Singh has lashed out at West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over her allegation that the Home Minister was interfering in the day-to-day working of the election commission. Singh said that CM Mamata was frustrated as she can sense that she is going to lose in the upcoming polls. He further questioned who the BJP leaders should approach if not the Election Commission. This comes after CM Mamata Banerjee in a rally in Bankura on Tuesday accused the Home Minister of interfering in the poll panel’s work and harassing government officials and politicians. At least 10 people were killed and several injured after truck fell into a gorge in Uttar Pradesh’s Etawah. a DCM truck was headed from Pinahat of Bah tehsil with passengers who were going to hoist the flag at Lakhna temple. The accident took place on Udi-Chakar Nagar Road on Saturday. “Several people, in a DCM, were going to Lakhna. The truck lost balance and fell into a gorge. Some people were below the truck too. At least 10 people died after a bus filled with devotees fell into a gorge in Etawah of Uttar Pradesh on April 10. The bus was going from Pinahat in Agra to Lakhna temple in Etawah. The injured people have been shifted to a district hospital. Over 50 people were on board the bus. Further details are awaited.
Uttar Pradesh Additional Chief Secretary (Health) Amit Mohan Prasad informed that the state has reported 12,787 fresh COVID-19 cases in past 24 hours. The total number of active infections in the state stands at 58,801.
