Rajasthan BJP president Satish Poonia lambasted state Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot over phone tapping allegations and asked him to resign on moral grounds. BJP also demanded CBI probe in this regard. "The questions (over phone-tapping issue) were raised in August last year and the response has come now. It is a serious matter. Chief Minister must take responsibility and resign on moral grounds. CBI should investigate this issue now," said state BJP chief Poonia.
Rajasthan Governor Kalraj Mishra met ambassador of Denmark to India Freddy Svane. Guv Mishra met him at Raj Bhavan in Rajasthan's Jaipur on March 06. Freddy Svane also met CM Ashok Gehlot. According to the information of Chief Minister's Office, A Center of Excellence in dairy sector will soon be set up in Rajasthan with the help of Denmark. Freddy Svane is currently the Ambassador at Royal Danish Embassy in New Delhi.
Maharashtra reported 67,123 fresh COVID cases, 56,783 discharges, and 419 deaths on April 17. While Maharashtra's capital reported 8,834 new COVID-19 cases, 6,617 discharges and 52 deaths in last 24 hours. On the other side, Karnataka today registered 17,489 new positive cases, 5,565 discharges and 80 deaths. Kerala also reported 13,835 new cases, 3654 recoveries and 27 deaths today. Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh reported 11,269 new coronavirus cases, 6,497 recoveries, and 66 deaths in last 24 hours.
A delegation of BJP leaders led by Devendra Fadnavis met Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari at Raj Bhavan and handed over their memorandum on March 24. They requested the Governor to ask for a report from Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on various issues related to governance and COVID-19. Devendra Fadnavis said, "After so many incidents, Maharashtra Chief Minister is silence, Sharad Pawar held two press conferences, he just tried to protect the minister. This government has lost moral ground." He further said, "This Government is not bothered about the COVID-19 situation in the state. The way in which cases are increasing here, it has become the epicentre. I don't understand what has this government done to control it? It is time to act and not give lectures."

The Rajasthan government had announced a weekend curfew from 6 pm Friday till 5 am Monday in the state to curb the increasing cases of COVID-19 from. Streets in Jaipur wore a deserted look as shops remained closed. Rajasthan has 53813 active cases of COVID-19 as of April 17.
Border Security Forces (BSF) Commandant Ops (Jaipur-south), Jagdeep Singh Sandhu said on April 17 that nearly 100% personnel on duty have been given shots of COVID-19 vaccine. "We have vaccinated nearly 100% of our personnel on duty here. We have also started the first phase of vaccination for family members (above 45 years old) of our personnel here," the Commandant said.
In a shocking incident, COVAXIN doses allegedly went missing from cold storage of Jaipur's Hari Bux Kanwatia Government hospital. Total of 320 doses are absent from the place they were stored, police said citing complaint from the hospital. "We received report from the hospital that 320 doses of COVAXIN are missing from there. We have registered an FIR with charges of theft. Investigation is underway, CCTV footage will be checked. Action will be taken if any hospital staff is found involved," the official said.
