Four-day Covid-19 vaccine festival ‘Tika Utsav’ began in the country on April 11. It’s being observed with an aim to inoculate maximum number of eligible people. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had made the call for vaccine festival during his meeting with Chief Ministers. People arrived at inoculation centres in Delhi to receive the Covid vaccine jab. Jai Prakash, Mayor of the North Delhi Municipal Corporation, said, "Today Tika Mahotsav started in the country. It will be observed from April 11, the birth anniversary of Jyotiba Phule to April 14, the birth anniversary of BR Ambedkar. As second phase of vaccination of COVID-19 is underway in India, people flocked to the vaccination centre to get the jab. Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed to the chief ministers of all states to inoculate maximum number of eligible people against COVID-19. Amid political campaigning and upcoming fourth phase Assembly elections in West Bengal, BJP workers staged a protest outside Jadavpur Police Station in Kolkata over the attack on state BJP chief Dilip Ghosh's convoy. Amidst the ongoing polling for the fourth phase of the West Bengal Assembly elections on Saturday, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Locket Chatterjee was allegedly attacked in Hooghly's Chunchura. Chatterjee spoke to an Election Commission official saying that she was attacked by locals at polling booth no 66 in Chunchura. She also said that journalists were attacked too. BJP delegation on April 10 met Election Commission in Kolkata over the poll violence in Cooch Behar where five people were killed in two separate incidents. BJP blamed Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for the violence saying that the firing incident took place because of her recent statement calling for "gherao of Central forces". "In my opinion, these incidents happened because of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's old statement calling for gherao of Central forces," said BJP West Bengal general secretary Jyotirmay Singh Mahato. Four people were killed at a booth in Sitalkuchi, Cooch Behar during the fourth phase of Assembly elections on April 10. Polling at the polling booth remains suspended by the Election Commission after the incident. Further investigation is underway.
