Have to immediately stop 2nd COVID wave: PM Modi tells CMs
During his meeting with chief ministers over resurgence in COVID-19 cases, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 17 called for immediately stopping the emerging second wave of coronavirus, and advised the CMs to take "quick and decisive" steps.
"We will have to immediately stop the emerging second wave of Corona and for this, we will have to take quick and decisive steps," PM Modi told the CMs during a virtual interaction.
India on March 17 recorded 28,903 fresh cases and 188 deaths in the past 24 hours.
India's mammoth election began, featuring Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking a third term amid promises of economic growth and Hindu nationalism. His Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) faces a diverse opposition coalition, with concerns over unemployment and minority rights. Despite challenges, Modi's leadership-centric campaign and a fragmented opposition give BJP an edge, though issues like anti-incumbency remain significant.
