Union Minister Ramdas Athawale met President Ram Nath Kovind and sought President's rule in Maharashtra.
This comes in the wake of former Mumbai Police chief Param Bir Singh's corruption allegation against State Home Minister Anil Deshmukh and Sachin Waze episode.
âI submitted a memorandum of demand to President Ram Nath Kovind.
I urged President Kovind to impose President's rule in Maharashtra.
President Kovind told me that he would think over my demand,â he said.
Param Bir Singh had written to CM Uddhav Thackeray suggesting Deshmukhâs involvement in corruption.
The state home minister has, however, refuted the former Mumbai Police chief's allegation.
Singh was earlier transferred so that cases pertaining to Sachin Waze were probed without obstruction.
Waze was arrested in connection with the Mukesh Ambani security threat case.
MoS for Social Justice and Empowerment Ramdas Athawale, has demanded President's rule in Maharashtra amid investigation in the businessman Mukesh Ambani bomb scare case and Sachin Waze case. "Law and order situation is worsening in Maharashtra. A criminal officer like Sachin Waze was given protection by the Maharashtra government... I demand that President's rule be implemented in Maharashtra. I will also write to Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding this," said Athawale.
President Kovind, PM Modi paid homage to BR Ambedkar on his 130th birth anniversary. PM Modi paid his tribute to Ambedkar while addressing the Association of Indian Universities. He also took to twitter saying Ambedkar gave a strong foundation to independent India. VP Venkaiah Naidu paid floral tribute to Ambedkar at his residence in Delhi. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla also paid tribute to the Father of Indian Constitution. BSP supremo Mayawati remembered Ambedkar's legacy on his birth anniversary. DMK chief MK Stalin paid a floral tribute to BR Ambedkar at Koyambedu in Chennai. Dr Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar was born on 14 April, 1891 in Mhow of Madhya Pradesh. Termed as the father of Indian constitution, he always worked for the welfare of deprived people. Ambedkar was conferred with Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian award, in 1990.

A gunfight broke out between security forces & Maoists in Chhattisgarh's Bastar on April 3.As many as 23 bodies were found from the site of the gunfight, as per officials. 32 soldiers were injured and 1 was reported missing, confirmed Bijapur police. President Ram Nath Kovind, who was shifted to the AIIMS from Army Hospital (RR) in Delhi, will undergo a "planned bypass procedure" on March 30 at the hospital. President Kovind's condition is stable. The President was taken to the Army Hospital on March 26 after he felt chest pain, as part of the routine checkup, the Rashtrapati Bhavan said. The Army Hospital had referred him to AIIMS for "further investigation", the facility's medical bulletin read.

Maharashtra Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis accused Maharastra Police of harassing a Daman-based Remdesivir supplier for agreeing to supply a stock of the drug to the state on the request of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders. âWe had requested Bruck Pharma to supply a stock of Remdesivir vials to Maharashtra. They said they couldn't until permissions were given. I spoke with Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and got Food and Drug Administration (FDA)'s permission. Tonight around 9 pm, the police arrested him," said Fadnavis. He added that the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Manjunath Singe told they had inputs that some exporters had 60,000 vials and they only wanted to verify the same. BJP leader and Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra Assembly, Devendra Fadnavis, has alleged that Mumbai Police on April 17 arrested a remdesivir supplier whom BJP had approached to supply the anti-viral drug to the state amid the surge in COVID cases. Fadnavis said, "Four days ago we had requested Bruck Pharma to supply us (Remdesivir) but they couldn't until permission was given. I spoke with Union Min Mansukh Mandviya and we got FDA's permission, but at about 9 pm, police arrested him (supplier)." LoP visited the police station where the supplier was held. "DCP told us that they received inputs that some exporters had 60,000 vials and wanted to verify the same. We showed them permission letter. He (DCP) said it wasn't communicated to them. Whatever happened was wrong," said Devendra Fadnavis.
In a post on Twitter on Wednesday, Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal took a dig at their competitor Swiggy for delivering orders after 8pm in Mumbai amid the coronavirus pandemic. Deepinder Goyal, in his now-viral post, attached a screenshot from food delivery platform Swiggyâs application and tagged Mumbai Police, asking for a clarification. After Mumbai police clarified, he apologised to Swiggy.
