Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that high voter turnout and emerging trends indicate that BJP will get a clear majority in West Bengal and NDA will once again succeed in Assam with BJP getting more seats.
“High voter turnout in the first phase of West Bengal elections makes it clear that BJP is going to achieve great success in each phase of polls.
The trends show that BJP will form the government with a clear majority,” said Rajnath.
"Our government has a splendid track record on development and good governance.
I believe that the seats of BJP will increase and NDA will succeed in this election in Assam," he added.
Voting for first phase in Assam and West Bengal was conducted on March 27.
The Speaker, Premchand Aggarwal, who is also the BJP MLA from Rishikesh, had come to inaugurate the centre at Government Primary School for the inoculation of the 18-44 age group and was allegedly posing for pictures even as people waited outside. Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has written to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh seeking the assistance of the Army in tackling the Covid situation in the capital. Delhi has been witnessing a high number of cases and deaths in the second wave of Covid and the crisis has been compounded by the shortage of oxygen in hospitals. Deputy CM Sisodia said that the government has appealed to all sections to help transport oxygen to the capital. Former Attorney General & Constitutional law expert Soli Sorabjee died on Friday. The 91-year-old veteran lawyer passed away after getting infected with Covid-19. Sorabjee had served as the Attorney General for India from 1989-90 & then from 1998-2004. The Former Attorney General was admitted to a private hospital in South Delhi. President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter and condoled Sorabjee's demise. VP Venkaiah Naidu, union ministers Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, RS Prasad and Smriti Irani also paid their tribute to the former Attorney General. NCP chief Sharad Pawar and West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee also tweeted and expressed their condolences. Born in 1930, Soli Sorabjee had been honoured with Padma Vibhushan in 2002.

As five states of India is undergoing assembly elections, BJP chief JP Nadda said the party is confident of gaining power. He added that signals from West Bengal clearly states that BJP is walking towards victory. "In Tamil Nadu, under the leadership of AIADMK we are forming the government. The signals in the two phases of West Bengal clearly have shown that BJP is heading towards victory," said BJP's JP Nadda in Chennai. He added, "In Assam, we are retaining the government of NDA along with UPPL and AGP. In Puducherry also we are making a clear way of formation of the government. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 02 said that BJP and its alliance understands national interest and regional aspirations. He asserted that National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is the believers in the federal structure of India.
