Officials from the Uttarakhand Police have confirmed the arrest of Abdul Moid, son of Abdul Malik, who is believed to be the main orchestrator behind the Haldwani violence. Moid, considered a significant figure in the case, brings the total number of arrests linked to the February 8th incidents of stone pelting and arson in the Banbhoolpura area to 84. Abdul Malik, Moid's father, was the proprietor of the contested madrassa whose demolition sparked the unrest in the town. The authorities enforced a curfew in response to the violence, gradually lifting it after 12 days of monitoring and relaxation measures.
