Watch: From terrorists in J&K, rifle widely used by US military recovered
Two terrorists were eliminated in Jammu and Kashmir on March 28.
Vijay Kumar, Inspector General of Police, Kashmir, said that Shopian police had received information about some terrorists hiding in a village, following which, a cordon was laid by police, Army, and CRPF.
Three terrorists were killed during an encounter with security forces in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir on May 6. The security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Kanigam area of the South Kashmir district during the night following information about the presence of terrorists. An official said as the presence of four newly recruited terrorists of Al-Badr outfit got ascertained, the security forces exercised maximum restraint and tried their best to persuade them to surrender. The terrorists turned down the offer to surrender and opened fire. However, one terrorist identified as Tausif Ahmad surrendered. Watch the full video for more.

Three terrorists were killed in an encounter, which broke out between security forces and terrorists, in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir on May 05. One newly recruited terrorist namely, Tausif Ahmad surrendered. Search operation is underway.
A 10-member BJP delegation, led by state BJP chief Dilip Ghosh, met the four-member team from Home Ministry at the BSF office in Kolkata. MHA deputed the team to assess the ground situation amid the post-poll violence in West Bengal. Additional Secretary in Home Ministry Govind Mohan, Additional Secretary in Education Ministry Vinit Joshi, Joint Director of Intelligence Bureau Janardan Singh and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) IB, Nalin are among the team. Violence has been reported in several parts of West Bengal after post-poll results.
CRPF recovered a 7-kg improvised explosive device (IED) in Chhattisgarh. The explosive device was found by troops of CoBRA 206 Battalion. CRPF jawans destroyed the IED planted by Naxals in a controlled explosion. The IED was destroyed in the forest area of Minpa in Sukma district.

CRPF jawan Rakeshwar Singh Manhas reached his hometown, Jammu on Friday. Rakeshwar was released last week after being abducted by Naxals in Chhattisgarh. The jawan was warmly welcomed by family, friends who put garlands around his neck. “I am very happy that I am meeting my family today. Our soldiers were brave enough to fight back the Naxals,” Rakeshwar said. Rakeshwar was abducted by Naxals during the Sukma-Bijapur encounter on April 3. Rakeshwar, who was part of security force's elite CoBRA unit, was released on April 8. 22 security personnel were killed and 31 others were injured in the fierce gunbattle.

Updating on Shopian encounter, IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar informed that one Hizbul Mujahideen and one LeT terrorists were gunned down. "One HM terrorist Inatullah Shaikh and one LeT terrorist Adil Malik killed in the Shopian encounter. One AK-47 rifle and one M4 rifle recovered. Shaikh came to India from Pakistan last week. In this year, two M4 rifles have been recovered so far," said IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar.
While addressing a press conference in Srinagar on March 22, IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar informed that 19 terrorists have been eliminated this year, and four security forces personnel were killed. "As far as encounter SOP is concerned, security forces follow procedure. Result is the killing of 19 terrorists this year. There's been no civilian death," said Kumar. 4 Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists were killed in today's encounter in JandK's Shopian.
All four terrorists who were killed in today's encounter in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian belonged to Lashkar-e-Taiba, informed Kashmir IGP Vijay Kumar on March 22. One Army personnel was also injured and situation is under control now, he further informed.
