BJP’s Kerala Chief K surendran has said that the party will bring ‘Love Jihad’ legislation if they are elected to power in the state. He further alleged that the ISIS is targeting Hindu and Christian girls in Kerala. ‘ISIS is targeting Hindu-Christian girls especially students. Why are they sending couples to Syria if there is no love jihad? Surendran said. The statement comes days ahead of polls in the state where the BJP is trying to make inroads. ‘Metro Man’ E Sreedharan, who recently joined the BJP, had said that the BJP will emerge kingmaker in the state in the upcoming polls. Union Minister Smriti Irani arrived in Uttar Pradesh's Amethi to meet the family members of deceased BJP MLA Dal Bahadur Kori, who died of COVID-19. She hugged his wife and consoled her, at the latter's residence. She is on a visit to her Amethi constituency to assess the ground situation of COVID management.
The country is witnessing exponential surge in COVID-19 cases and because of which several states have imposed lockdown in order to break the transmission of the COVID-19 virus. Kerala Government too has imposed a nine-day lockdown to contain disease transmission. The streets wore a deserted look in Thiruvananthapuram. Kerala police was on strict vigil to enforce lockdown restrictions. Only essential services have been exempted of the restrictions. The state-wide lockdown which was enforced from May 8 will end on 16, 2021.

With another Holy Week under the shadow of the Covid-19 pandemic, Christians in the national capital marked Good Friday services with tight restrictions on gatherings. At the Sacred Heart Cathedral, one of the oldest churches in the national capital, which typically draws thousands of people for its Easter week services, had just 25 to 30 per cent of the worshippers allowed into the church."The number of people visiting the church has been restricted for Easter this year. The services will be held at 30% capacity of the church. Senior citizens have been advised to avoid visiting the church," said Father Lawrence, Parish priest, Sacred Heart Cathedral to ANI. Amid rising cases of Covid-19 large gatherings have been restricted across the country. Last year there was a total lockdown during Good Friday and Easter.
Tribal tea garden workers in West Tripura organised a Hindu wedding ceremony for two frogs, this tradition is called 'Banger Biye.' Jharkhand Congress MLA Irfan Ansari stoked controversy by performing puja at a temple. Ansari performed puja at Deoghar's Baidyanath Dham temple, a sacred abode of Lord Shiva. BJP MP Dr Nishikant Dubey demanded arrest of Ansari after he offered prayers at temple. Dubey claimed that entry of non-Hindus is strictly not allowed at Baidyanath temple. The MP from Godda demanded that Jharkhand's JMM-led govt order arrest of Ansari. He also sought action against the deputy commissioner and SP of Deoghar. Meanwhile, Ansari accused Dubey of playing dirty politics in the name of religion. Ansari, MLA of Jamtara, had entered temple's sanctum sanctorum with his companions and performed puja. Ansari claimed that he has been coming to the temple since childhood to seek blessings.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament Nishikant Dubey on April 16 said that today it is a black day for Deoghar as Congress MLA Irfan Ansari entered the Baidyanath Dham temple besides being a non-Hindu. Dubey said, "Entry of non-Hindus is not allowed in Baidyanath Dham temple at Deoghar. But Congress MLA Irfan Ansari entered the temple. I've spoken to chief secretary, demanding suspension of DC and SP. I've also demanded that Ansari be booked under NSA."
