Manipur security forces bust brown sugar laboratory, 1 apprehended
Imphal police along with Narcotics and Affairs of Border (NAB) unit raided a brown sugar laboratory at Chesam Muslim Mayai Leikai in Imphal West district on April 1.
A team led by Saklemba Rajkumar, Additional Superintendent of Police/NAB, Amarjit Singh Lamabam, Superintendent of Police (operations) and K Bobby, OC/NAB PS arrested the suspected female named Chesam Maibam Sahera (30) from her husband Chesam Ayub Ali's house, who used to operate the laboratory.
The officials also informed that the husband of accused, Chesam Ayub Ali, is at large.
Unidentified assailants bombed the All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) office in Imphal, resulting in one death and one injury. Oinam Kenegy, 24, died, while Salam Michael, also 24, is hospitalized. Police are investigating, with no suspects identified yet. Prohibitory orders were in place in the area due to prior disputes. In another incident, a school's administrative section was vandalized and torched.
