CRPF recovered a 7-kg improvised explosive device (IED) in Chhattisgarh. The explosive device was found by troops of CoBRA 206 Battalion. CRPF jawans destroyed the IED planted by Naxals in a controlled explosion. The IED was destroyed in the forest area of Minpa in Sukma district.

A passenger train was derailed by Naxals between Bhansi and Bacheli in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada on April 23. About 30 passengers were onboard and all are safe. District Reserve Guard jawans deployed to rescue the passengers. Earlier, April 04, Naxals ambushed security forces during an anti-insurgency operation and killed 22 jawans.
Encounter broke out between security forces and Naxals in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada. Search operation was launched by District Reserve Guard (DRG) after inputs and body of a Naxal was recovered following gunbattle.
After several members of a family died post drinking homeopathy medicine containing 91 percent alcohol, Chhattisgarh government is mulling to restart online delivery of liquor amid the lockdown, like last year. "Liquor shops are closed. Sale and purchase attempts of alcohol are being made from other states. People died in Bilaspur after consuming medicines in absence of alcohol. So our Govt's thinking of implementing online delivery of liquor, like last lockdown," said state's Excise Minister Kawasi Lakhma.
Health Minister of Chhattisgarh, TS Singh Deo on May 08 said the state government will receive 3.50 lakh doses of Covishield today and the further vaccination will go on with this. "We received 1.50 lakh Covaxin doses from Bharat Biotech on May 1 and the vaccination is going on with that. We'll receive 3.50 lakh doses of Covishield today and the vaccination will further go on with this," Deo said media persons.
A consignment of 25 boxes of Covishield vaccine arrived at Raipur from Mumbai. Following Chhattisgarh High Court orders, the stare government had commenced vaccination drive for citizens between 18-44 age groups. The state required vaccines in order to continue the vaccination process.

He has converted the hostel of an engineering college into a COVID-19 care centre in Raipur. The 200-bedded COVID-19 care centre offers free of cost service of food, medicine, oxygen, yoga training, etc. Around 50 medical staff has been recruited to look after the patients. The COVID-19 care centre got opened on April 20.

The soldier was released in our presence and handed over to us,” a journalist said. Another said, We went to the place where the soldier was kept. Soldier is healthy but he is mentally troubled. He told me that he got lost during the ambush. Maoists said that they were leaving him on humanitarian grounds. They (maoists) said that the soldier be sent back home. Bringing back the soldier was everyone’s responsibility.”

CRPF jawan Rakeshwar Singh Manhas reached his hometown, Jammu on Friday. Rakeshwar was released last week after being abducted by Naxals in Chhattisgarh. The jawan was warmly welcomed by family, friends who put garlands around his neck. “I am very happy that I am meeting my family today. Our soldiers were brave enough to fight back the Naxals,” Rakeshwar said. Rakeshwar was abducted by Naxals during the Sukma-Bijapur encounter on April 3. Rakeshwar, who was part of security force's elite CoBRA unit, was released on April 8. 22 security personnel were killed and 31 others were injured in the fierce gunbattle.

Naxals allegedly killed two villagers in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh on the suspicion of being police informers. Sukma SP KL Dhruv said, "A note was also placed by the naxals near the bodies of deceased. In the note it was stated that naxals have killed them for being police informers."

The cobra jawan was part of a squad that had gone for an anti-naxal operation on Friday. “Among the jawans killed and injured in naxal attack, one is still missing. Constable Rakeshwar Singh Manhas is of the 210th battalion of CoBRA (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action). The search party has been looking for our missing soldier. We got to know via social media that he has been abducted by Naxals. There is a possibility that it's true, we are verifying the information. We will take necessary action to get the missing jawan back safely,” Sundarraj said. Manhas went missing on Saturday after a gunfight along the border of Sukma and Bijapur. As many as 22 security personnel were killed and 31 others were injured in the fierce gunbattle.
