CM Biren Singh inaugurates Golden Jubilee Celebrations of Manipuri Cinema
The Manipur State Film Development Society (MSFDS) celebrated golden jubilee of Manipuri cinema.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh inaugurated the program at the Palace Auditorium of MSFDS, Imphal on April 9.
Manipuri feature films, documentaries, northeast focus section were screened.
Apart from felicitating veteran filmmakers, pioneers of Manipuri cinema, and artists, the Chief Minister also distributed Chief Ministergi Artistesinggi Tengbang (CMAT) pension and financial assistance to beneficiaries.
Polling in 102 parliamentary seats across 21 states and Union Territories in the first phase of Lok Sabha Elections commenced at 7 am on April 19 and ended at 6 pm. Over 102 parliamentary constituencies in 21 states and union territories headed to the polling booth on Friday, including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir, Puducherry, Lakshadweep, and Andaman and Nicobar Islands. West Bengal recorded the highest turnout till 5 PM at 77.57 per cent, followed by Tripura at 76.10 per cent. Voter turnout in Assam stood at 70.77 per cent, while Manipur recorded a voter turnout of 68.58 per cent till 5 PM.

The first phase of Lok Sabha elections in the inner Manipur constituency on Friday, April 19, witnessed violence incidents that affected the electoral process. At a polling station in Thamanpokpi, under the Moirang Assembly segment, miscreants opened fire, resulting in three reported deaths. Following these incidents, stringent security measures were swiftly reinforced in the area.

Unidentified assailants bombed the All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) office in Imphal, resulting in one death and one injury. Oinam Kenegy, 24, died, while Salam Michael, also 24, is hospitalized.
