A 10-member BJP delegation, led by state BJP chief Dilip Ghosh, met the four-member team from Home Ministry at the BSF office in Kolkata. MHA deputed the team to assess the ground situation amid the post-poll violence in West Bengal. Additional Secretary in Home Ministry Govind Mohan, Additional Secretary in Education Ministry Vinit Joshi, Joint Director of Intelligence Bureau Janardan Singh and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) IB, Nalin are among the team. Violence has been reported in several parts of West Bengal after post-poll results.
BJP chief JP Nadda met violence-affected BJP workers in West Bengal on May 4. He met the family of party worker who was allegedly killed in post-poll violence in Beliaghata, Kolkata. West Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh also accompanied Nadda. “Only those who cannot hear a mother’s screams can call such serious issues a stunt, a drama. BJP will not tolerate such bloodied politics done just for power. BJP will not tolerate political oppression on the people of Bengal. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 12 during a public rally in West Bengal's Bardhaman remembered Bihar Police officer who was allegedly beaten to death by a mob during raid in West Bengal's Uttar Dinajpur on April 10 and accused Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for the gruesome attack. "That brave police officer, who had come to Bengal on duty two days ago, was beaten to death. When his mother saw his body, she also succumbed. Didi, is that officer's mother not a mother for you? No mother in Bengal knew how harsh and ruthless you are," said PM Modi.

The candle roadshow was held a day after the violence in Cooch Behar. Sitalkuchi in Cooch Behar saw violence and deaths on April 10. Amid voting, a mob allegedly attacked CISF personnel at booth. Four were killed after CISF soldiers claimed to have fired in self-defence. In another incident, an 18-yr-old voter was killed amid clashes.
