Halfway through the West Bengal elections, a controversy over Trinamool Congress' poll strategist Prashant Kishor's leaked chat caused a storm.

One of the statements made by Kishor, as released by BJP, involved a declaration that 'if there's a vote, it's for Hindus, for polarisation, and for Modi'.

BJP leader Amit Malviya released leaked audio clips of Prashant Kishor speaking to journalists. Malviya claimed that even TMC's internal surveys show BJP's win in Bengal assembly polls. Malviya took to Twitter and shared the audio clips of the public chat on Clubhouse app. In the chat, Kishor is purportedly heard saying that 'PM Modi is very popular in Bengal’. Malviya claimed that Kishor also spoke on 'anger against TMC' and ’55% Hindus are voting for BJP’. Clubhouse is an audio-only app where participants can host discussions in open rooms. Responding to Malviya's tweetstorm, Kishore challenged BJP to release the entire conversation.

Citing the leaked audio of Prashant Kishor, BJP leader and candidate from Chunchura constituency Locket Chatterjee said that even Prashant Kishor knows that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is best and 'sonar Bangla' will be made under his leadership. "Prashant Kishor also knows that Modi ji is the best and a 'sonar Bangla' will be made under his leadership. But to fool the people he got associated with TMC," said Chatterjee in Hoogly. However, Prashant Kishor claimed that it a 'selective use of audio clip'. He also asked BJP to release full conversation.
