A CDC advisory panel debated possible next steps in the administration of the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine, and after hours of questions and presentations, decided Wednesday they wanted more information about the rare instances of blood clots to make a recommendation.
On Thursday, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said that there have been a higher-than-expected number of cases of heart inflammation in 16- to 24-year-olds after receiving their second dose of Pfizer’s or Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccines.

A single-shot coronavirus vaccine from Johnson & Johnson has been approved for use in the UK.The vaccine, developed by Johnson & Johnson’s pharmaceutical arm Janssen, has been shown to be 67% effective overall at preventing moderate to severe Covid-19, and is thought to be 85% effective in preventing severe disease or admission to hospital.
