Shivamogga resident KV Purushottam Hegde has been running a cow shelter for past 13 years for injured cattle.

Hegde has dedicated his life to help cows in need.

Speaking to ANI, Hegde said that they get injured while crossing roads.

"They get injured while crossing roads.

Owners leave them.

Sometimes cows return to their home after recovery or owners come to take them back," said Hegde.

He alleged that donors have extended their support but state government has not sanctioned land for cow shelter.

"Donors extended their support but govt has not sanctioned land (for cow shelter).

I have one acre of land and I'm struggling.

Karnataka govt brings law against cow slaughter but there is no constructive work for building the cow shelters to protect cattle," said KV Purushottam.
