“We had requested Bruck Pharma to supply a stock of Remdesivir vials to Maharashtra.
They said they couldn't until permissions were given.

With many states claiming a shortage of remdesivir, an antiviral drug used in Covid-19 treatment in certain cases, the Union government revealed a plan to double its production in the coming days. Union minister Mansukh Mandaviya said that within 15 days, production of the drug would be doubled from 1.5 lakh to 3 lakh vials. In view of increased demand of Remdesivir, anti-viral drug for COVID-19, Government of India has decided to increase production, supply and reduce prices of the drug, said Union Chemicals and Fertilisers Minister Mansukh Mandaviya. "GoI has decided to increase production, supply and reduce prices of Remdesivir drug. This will ramp up production capacity for manufacturing to around 80 lakh vials/month. The manufacturers of Remdesivir to reduce price to less than Rs 3500 by end of this week," said Union Chemicals and Fertilizers Minister, Mansukh Mandaviya. Remdesivir is considered as a key anti-viral drug in the fight against COVID-19, especially in adult patients with severe complications.
Minister of State (MoS) for Chemicals and Fertilizers Mansukh Mandaviya said that the price of fertilizers will not increase. "Government of India had a high-level meeting with fertilizer companies. In the meeting, it is decided that the price of fertilizers will not be increase. The farmers will get the fertilizers in the same rate," he said.
Twelve major opposition parties have written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Delhi government has said that People under the age of 45 won't get shots of Covaxin from tomorrow with limited stocks left for the next four days. Maharashtra is likely to extend its lockdown till May 31. Main Opposition party, the Nepali Congress, has decided to stake a claim for the prime minister's post.

While Covid-19 cases and deaths continue to wreak havoc in the country, the new fear of mucormycosis or black fungus is causing more worries. Maharashtra has reported more deaths caused by the black fungus while the government has said there may be 2,000 cases of mucormycosis in the state. On Monday, Odisha also reported its first case of mucormycosis while Delhi, Gujarat and a few other states have already detected cases of the feared black fungus.
