WB polls: TMC submits memorandum to EC to club together remaining phases
A TMC delegation submitted a memorandum to the Election Commission with request to consider appeal to club together remaining phases of West Bengal polls.
"On 15th April, our party chief Mamata Banerjee appealed to the Election Commission to club together remaining phases of polls, keeping an eye on COVID situation.
She repeated the same thing yesterday.
We have submitted a memorandum to state the Election Commission with request to consider and review this," said TMC leader Sukhendu Sekhar Ray.
In Murshidabad, clashes erupted during a Ram Navami procession, leaving about 20 injured from stone pelting. Prohibitory orders were enforced under Section 144. Another incident involved a blast in Shaktipur, injuring a woman. The BJP accused Mamata Banerjee of inciting tensions, while the TMC blamed the BJP for provoking clashes. Police intervened, and Section 144 was imposed district-wide.
