After receiving flak for giving out 'free Flabiflu' in his parliamentary constituency East Delhi, BJP MP Gautam Gambhir on Thursday asked if a few strips of Fabiflu he obtained is causing its shortage and said he is proud to save somebody's life in this pandemic.
"If a few 100 strips of tablets obtained from a distributor are being given for free, then, can it be called 'hoarding'?
Is my obtaining a few strips of Fabiflu causing the shortage?", he said.
"Those people, who let Remdesivir sell for Rs 30,000- Rs 40,000, or one hospital bed being given out for 5-10 lakhs, are calling this 'hoarding'?" he added.
Amid oxygen crisis in national capital in view of devastating second wave of COVID-19, Bharatiya Janata Party leader and Lok Sabha MP from East Delhi, Gautam Gambhir, on May 01 said he is going to provide 200 oxygen concentrators in Delhi. The East Delhi MP also said the oxygen concentrators will be provided free of cost.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Gautam Gambhir on April 25 slammed Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal by saying Delhi CM is doing "low-level politics" over oxygen crisis and making people suffer in national capital. "What was your (Delhi CM) backup plan? Why did you not do anything in one yr? Now you write letters to all CMs for Oxygen. What happened to the 8 oxygen plants that you were setting up? You set up only 1. It's low-level politics that is making people suffer," Gambhir told ANI.
People rushed to BJP MP Gautam Gambhir's office for 'Fabiflu' with prescription after he took to twitter and announced that people of East Delhi can get the medicine us in COVID treatment for free. He has been accused of hoarding COVID-19 medicines. While speaking to ANI, Gambhir said that he will do everything to save lives of people. "If a few 100 strips of tablets obtained from a distributor are being given for free, then, can it be called hoarding? Is my obtaining a few strips of Fabiflu causing the shortage? You can call me wrong but I will do everything to save lives of people," said Gambhir.
BJP MP from East Delhi, Gautam Gambhir on April 20 supported Delhi Government's decision of lockdown to break the chain of COVID-19. He said that there is no other way. Gambhir also raised questions on Delhi Government's preparations to curb the pandemic. He said, "Did you (Delhi CM Kejriwal) make no preparations since last year? You give lectures, don't take questions and lie. Is there any hospital in Delhi where beds are available?." Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal had announced a six-day lockdown in Delhi starting from 10 pm on Monday till 5 am on April 26.
