India witnessed a dip in COVID-19 cases after the country reported 3,66,161 new infections in last 24 hours. With 7,45,237 active cases, COVID caseload of the country stood at 2,26,62,575. 3,754 new deaths in last 24 hours took the toll to 2,46,116. So far, 1,86,71,222 people won the battle against COVID-19. According to Indian Council of Medical Research, till date 30,37,50,077 samples have been tested for COVID-19 virus. Vaccination drive is underway and 17,01,76,603 vaccine doses have been inoculated.
Switzerland sent medical supplies, including oxygen concentrators and respirators to India. A cargo aircraft carrying over 13 tonnes of medical supplies left Zurich for New Delhi. The supplies worth CHF 3 million (over Rs 24 crore) arrived at Delhi airport on Friday. The consignment comprises as many as 600 oxygen concentrators & 50 respirators. The medical supplies provided by Switzerland will be received by Indian Red Cross. Supplies will then be distributed to hospitals by the Health Ministry which is coordinating aid. Meanwhile, the first shipment from the Netherlands also arrived at Delhi airport on Friday. Aid contained 449 ventilators, 100 oxygen concentrators & other medical supplies. MEA informed that remaining medical equipment would be shipped over the coming days. India is currently dealing with a devastating second wave of Covid-19 pandemic. Several countries have come forward & an international aid operation has been launched to help India fight the coronavirus crisis.

The fifth flight from United States arrived in India with covid medical aid. A US flight carrying 545 oxygen concentrators reached New Delhi on May 4. On May 2, a flight from the US carrying 1.25 lakh vials of remdesivir landed in India. A US flight arrived with 1,000 oxygen cylinders & other equipment on May 1. On April 30, US deployed its first two planes carrying the initial emergency relief supplies. The United States Department of Defense has said that the final two flights of Covid-19 aid slated for India have been delayed. A flight from Italy, carrying Covid-19 medical aid, arrived in New Delhi on May 3. The shipment included 1 oxygen generating plant and 20 ventilators. Ambassador of Italy to India, Vincenzo De Luca said, “We're going to deliver an oxygen production machine to a hospital in Noida. It'll provide oxygen to 100 patients at one time and to thousands in the days to come. Italian companies operating in India are helping the Indian government in the production of oxygen.” Ambassador of European Union to India, Ugo Astuto said that the focus is on supplying oxygen and drugs to the country as Covid aid amid second wave of coronavirus.
