Nintendo Wins Lawsuit Against ROM Hosting Website.

The lawsuit, which sought damages against RomUniverse for copyright infringement and federal trademark infringement, was filed in September of 2019.

RomUniverse will now have to pay Nintendo $2.1 million.

RomUniverse hosted pirated Nintendo games that anyone could download, and even offered a premium subscription.

The website was taken down last year, but Nintendo pursued the lawsuit, initially seeking over $15 million in damages.

The website's owner said he "denies and disputes that he uploaded any files to said website and at no time did he verify the content of said ROM file.".

However, he had previously testified that "he and or/his "admin" uploaded ROMs of Nintendo's copyrighted works," so his newest statement was struck down.

In 2018, Nintendo was awarded damages exceeding $12 million in a case against two different ROM hosting sites
