Queen’s quip puts G7 leaders at ease at evening reception
The Queen has asked the question possibly on the mind of every G7 world leader – “Are you supposed to be looking as if you’re enjoying yourself?”Known for her wit, used to put nervous guests at ease, the Queen’s quip came as presidents and prime ministers smiled for the camera during a family photo after an evening reception.Following a day of political talks, the “soft diplomacy” of the monarchy was evident when three generations of the royal family gathered to welcome the leaders to Cornwall.
World leaders attending the G7 summit issued a final communique that confronted China on just about every sore spot, from human rights abuses to a push for a renewed independent investigation into the origins of Covid-19. They also promoted an alternative infrastructure plan to counter China’s influence. CNN’s Ivan Watson reports.
The Queen has hosted the US President and First Lady for tea at Windsor Castle. Joe Biden and his wife Jill travelled to the Berkshire royal residence on Marine One on Sunday after attending the G7 summit in Cornwall.

Boris Johnson insists Brexit has taken up only a small part of the G7 summit's time.However the Prime Minister did say at the close-of-summit press conference in Cornwall that "of course we make the point continuously we are part of one great, indivisible United Kingdom".
