India's external affairs minister handed over the relics of a seventeenth century Georgian queen to his counterpart in Georgia, during a ceremony in Tiblisi on Friday 9 July.

Subrahmanyam Jaishankar handed over the remains of the queen, Saint Ketevan, which were found at the St Augustine Convent in India's Goa in 2005.

They are thought to have been brought to Goa, which was once a Portuguese colony, in 1627.

The government of Georgia had long requested the return of the relics.
