Researchers at Rice University say they have developed a shirt than can perform EKGs and track your heart rate – with the help of Bluetooth wires hanging off of it.
The Edith and Peter O'Donnell Engineering Award, one of Texas' top academic accolades, was bestowed upon Ashok Veeraraghavan, an Indian-origin computer engineer and professor, for his groundbreaking contributions to imaging technology that aims to render invisible entities visible. This award, granted annually by the Texas Academy of Medicine, Engineering, Science, and Technology (TAMEST) to exceptional researchers in the state, recognizes Veeraraghavan's group's revolutionary imaging technology. Veeraraghavan expressed his delight at receiving the award, attributing it to the innovative research conducted by numerous individuals in the computational imaging lab at Rice University over the past decade. His lab's research encompasses imaging processes comprehensively, integrating optics, detector design, and machine learning algorithms to address imaging challenges beyond the capabilities of existing technologies
