The UK has airdropped food supplies into Gaza for the first time as the Defence Secretary urged Israel to allow more aid into the war-torn territory. Grant Shapps authorised the airdrop following an assessed reduction in threat to the military mission and risk to civilians. An RAF A400M aircraft flew from Amman to drop the supplies along Gaza’s northern coastline as part of a Jordanian-led international aid mission, according to the Ministry of Defence. Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer has called for "restraint" in Gaza as he praised the action the government took over the weekend to defend Israel. It comes as Iran launched over 300 drones and missiles in an attack on Israel on Saturday night. "We reiterate our call for an immediate ceasefire, for Hamas to release hostages and for the return to a diplomatic process that can rekindle our hope for a two-state solution," Mr Starmer said. Rishi Sunak insisted Israel has our "full support" as he condemned Iran's attack on Israel. It comes as Iran launched over 300 drones and missiles in an attack on Israel on Saturday night. The prime minister said the UK is urging Israel to show restraint.

Rishi Sunak said the conflict in Gaza "must end" as he addressed MPs in the House of Commons. The prime minister said he will be speaking to Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, to express solidarity and to discuss how we can prevent further escalation. "Nothing that has happened over the last 48 hours affects our position on Gaza. The whole country wants to see an end to the bloodshed and to see more humanitarian support going in," he added.

Foreign secretary Lord Cameron said he is "confident" the Rwanda bill will be passed by parliament this week. The legislation which is set to be passed declares Rwanda a safe country - after the Supreme Court blocked an earlier plan in November.
"If you can't send them directly back to France, the best thing to do is find another answer where people who come to Britain in that way can't stay in Britain. That's what the Rwanda plan is all about," Mr Cameron said.
